- Secured in place by an adjustable sternum strap, so they never fall off your shoulders
Adjustable LAP-STRAP
- This unique feature is essential for spinal health. When you sit or squat while wearing the bag, the LAP-STRAP immediately transfers the weight of the ergonomic side-bags off the shoulders and spine and onto the thighs without having to remove the shoulder straps. This prevents unhealthy load-bearing through a flexed (rounded) spine.
- Allows the ergonomic side-bags to remain accessible at your sides if you choose to remove shoulder straps while seated
Integral hip-loading belt
- Takes the weight of the bag off of your spine and shoulders if/when you need to do so for comfort, long distance carrying, or for some types of spinal pathology
- IMPORTANT! Taking all the weight onto the hips reduces the posture training effect of the BackTpack carrying system. For postural-training benefit some weight needs to be applied through the shoulders and spine. This was the design purpose of the ergonomic side-bag carrying system.

I love my Backtpack! I recently went back to school and so have been using it to carry my life around with me on my daily journeys between home and campus. Sometimes I ride the bus, sometimes I ride my bike, and sometimes I walk…but however I get myself there, my Backtpack is up to the task and I stay comfortable all day. It is versatile and effective, and I’m ditching my conventional backpacks for good.
I have really enjoyed my BackTpack as a missionary for the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints it makes it easy to travel, walk the streets, and have easy access to all the materials i need. Also very thankful for the owners of this product they are truly amazing people!
With my traditional backpack, I was experiencing back pain and headaches caused by neck strain as the heavy loads would pull on my neck and shoulder muscles. As I need to carry a variety of items such as tools, books and electronics for work and study, I was looking for an ergonomic alternative. With the BackTpack 4, I find that the even weight distribution allows me to stand straight and walk a lot faster even with the same loads I used to carry. The ability to carry loads for a longer period without the constant strain on my neck, shoulders and back have taken the hassle out of walking and using public transport. I am really enjoying the use of my BackTpack 4 and look forward to more innovative and ergonomic products from your company!
I have had a BackTpack 4 for over three years. I bought it after I found a traditional backpack, which I had migrated to due to shoulder pain from an overly heavy purse, awkward. BackTpack allows me to stand erect. I can easily reach my wallet while in a store. I use by BackTpack on a daily basis for travel, work, and pleasure. The compartments are a generous size, allowing me to carry my latest knitting project, a tablet, a book, a folder for my next meeting, and all the contents of a traditional purse. I like that the straps can be “tucked in” and the handle snapped together for a “brief case” look once I arrive at my meeting location. I like this product so much, I just ordered a second one!
As a physical therapist with a specialty in ergonomics, I was quite excited to read about the BackTpack and all of the thought and effort that went in to designing such a ‘body-friendly’ product. It did not disappoint. Extremely well made, highly adjustable and so many compartments I need to come up with a system to remind me where I stored everything (much preferable to digging through one big pocket, though!) I am able to walk from one appointment to the next with the weight of all of my equipment evenly distributed across my back and shoulders with my hands free. My physical and occupational therapist co-workers were also quite impressed and immediately began thinking of their patients (and their own children) who could benefit from the BackTpack.
